Woke up at 7am and grabbed some yummy muffins and juices from a local bakery and we are on our way to Lake Louise. We parked at the Lake Louise Fairmont (it used to be the Trans Canadian Pacific Lodge). What a wonderful old pile! Big Arthur and Frances stayed there back in the 1970’s. Aron had not done any significant work on his journal, so he had to stay in the car, but the rest of us went on a walk around the right side of Lake Louise. What a gem! The color, because of the suspended rock dust, is an extraordinary aquamarine blue. It looks false, like the blue of a Hollywood swimming pool. We returned to the car to get Aron an hour later and he had gotten enough work done that he could come out of purgatory, so I took him to the lake so he could see it. Then all six of us went through the hotel just to check it out, and I thought about Big Bum and how much he would have like being there.

We hopped back in our car and drove to nearby Moraine Lake where we first had lunch and then walked the whole lake trail (1.8km each way — half way around the lake.) Then we had a very good lunch at the Moraine Lake Lodge. Ben and Mia met some friends, Carol Momjian and Michael Monamarian, who have a boy, Maxwell, in Natan’s class.
